CoLab launches new AI product: AutoReview
|
CoLab launched AutoReview officially on July 16th. This AI-powered tool scans drawings and 3D CAD files to automatically generate design comments and markups.
Here’s what it can find:
- Drawing errors (ambiguous notes, missing dimensions)
- DFM optimizations based on best practices in machining, sheet metal, injection molding and more
- Non-confirmance with your company’s standards and guidelines
- Conflicts with lessons learned on past programs
CoLab estimates AutoReview can reduce drawing review time by as much as 40%, saving 2,500+ engineering hours in a complex NPD program.

New CoreFace connector for Microsoft Dynamics 365 FO available
|
🎉NEW COREFACE CONNECTOR FOR MICROSOFT DYNAMICS 365 FO AVAILABLE!
We are pleased to announce the latest addition to our CoreFace Integration Suite:
👉The CoreFace Connector for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 FO)!
With this release, we are expanding the seamless integration between the PLM system PTC Windchill or Windchill+ and the ERP world with another powerful ERP system.
Highlights of the new connector:
✅ Bidirectional PLM-ERP integration: data flows work in both directions - e.g. transfer of parts lists, material master data and changes from Windchill to D365 FO and back.
✅ No-code configuration: Intuitive user interface for quick adjustments - without any programming effort.
✅ Process security & transparency: Every transaction is visible in CoreFace and can be traced. If transactions fail, the error can be analyzed directly and the transaction can be re-triggered.
✅ Broad range of functions: The first version already includes the most important functions. These include the creation of change orders, products and parts lists (BOM) and other functions such as the transfer of documents. Further functions will be added in upcoming releases.

NEW Global Report: The State of Engineering AI
|
A global survey of 300 senior engineering leaders reveals a critical disconnect between AI aspirations and adoption in engineering workflows. While 93% expect AI to drive productivity gains, only 3% are currently seeing “very high” impact.
Key Highlights:
- Cloud-native advantage:
Teams using cloud-based simulation are 3X more likely to have mature AI programs, 6X more likely to maintain centralized, clean data, and twice as confident in achieving AI goals within the next year.
- Primary barriers:
- 55% cite siloed data as a major blocker
- 42% point to legacy desktop CAE tools
- Leadership misalignment: CTOs often overestimate resistance compared to frontline teams.
- AI’s value proposition:
Leaders view AI as a catalyst for innovation (54%), productivity (51%), and speed to market (47%), rather than merely a cost-cutting tool.
This report sheds light on the AI “expectation–execution gap” and outlines strategies used by the top 3% of performers to close it—such as modernizing architectures, embedding AI into live workflows, and treating data and models as infrastructure.

Don’t Let Data Migration Derail Your Windchill Implementation
|
When implementing an enterprise system like PTC Windchill, data migration is often the least glamorous part of the project—but it’s also one of the most critical. Poorly planned migration efforts can quickly turn a promising launch into chaos.
To avoid those pitfalls and ensure a smooth transition, follow these proven data migration best practices:
- Plan and Assess Early
Define the optimal strategy and approach based on your system architecture, data complexity, and business goals.
- Engage Stakeholders from the Start
Involve leaders, data owners, end users, and IT teams to align on expectations and requirements.
- Confirm and Validate the Target Data Model
Early validation ensures Windchill supports your use cases and prevents last-minute surprises.
- Prepare, Map, and Transform Your Data
Cleanse and structure source data to fit the target Windchill through clear transformation rules and mappings.
- Test Migrations Early and Often
Perform iterative test runs to validate outcomes and reduce risk before production.
- Execute the Production Migration According to Plan
Rely on a detailed migration schedule with clear checkpoints and fallback procedures. (As well as deliver any end user training as needed)
- Provide Post-Migration Support and Hypercare
Ensure end-user success with immediate support, mentoring, and issue resolution after go-live.
